Bluegrass Equine Surgery was founded with an uncompromising commitment to quality care for patients and strong relationships with their owners. Bluegrass Equine Surgery is a specialty equine hospital just outside Lexington, KY, in the heart of horse country. We provide both primary and specialized surgical care; providing ambulatory care services to nearly all of the premier horse farms; and are expanding our presence in the international equine industry. Bluegrass Equine Surgery consistently strives to provide the most advanced technology and the latest in treatment options for every aspect of a horse’s life. Our goal is to provide a communicative, collaborative team culture where every members contributions are valued.
Due to our ever increasing caseload, BES is looking to add a full-time additional board-certified equine surgeon or residency-trained equine veterinarian to our team. Surgical fellowships are also available for qualified candidates. We strive to provide gold-standard medicine in a gold-standard environment, and offer a 1:6 DVM:Technician ratio, and a brand new, purpose-built surgical facility.
Medical Director Dr. True Baker's focus is cosmetic and elective surgeries on young Thoroughbreds. Our surgical caseload consists primarily of arthroscopies, tie-backs, fracture repair, conformational procedures for ALD, and occasional reproductive procedures. We are actively hiring rotating interns and plan to have two interns per year to support the surgeons and ambulatory practitioners with their caseload and patient care.
Neighboring Keeneland racetrack and only ten minutes from Downtown Lexington, Versailles offers the perfect mix of quiet countryside and bustling city activity. We are happy to offer paid-on-behalf relocation services or a travel stipend for non-local candidates looking to explore the area or make a permanent move to the heart of horse country.
